Week 4 Challenge : CFD Meshing for BMW car
AIM- To Topo cleanup of BMW car model, 2-D meshing & Check its quality criteria, Improve failed meshes, and Create a fluid domain for 3-D meshing and volumetric mesh if possible.
ALGORITHMS USED
1. TOPO- Used to clean up geometry.
2. Meshing- To create 2-d meshes
STEPS & MODEL
1. Geometry cleanup
Original Geometry

Since the model, the given model is symmetrical and to solve the single coons, triple coons. Cut the given model in half and solve for the errors to reduce the time. The final model can be created using the Transform command.

* Grill-1
- delete all overlapping surfaces and extra surfaces.
- delete all triple cons as we don't need volume to be created.
- delete needle faces & intersecting spaces by projecting for smooth geometry.

Grill -2
# delete extra surfaces that are overlapping.
# delete the extra hot points after deleting of surfaces.
# cut to refine sharp edges surfaces and delete the irrelevant surface.

LOGO
delete extra surfaces that are overlapping.
delete triple cons, single cons

* Side Mirrors
Here we first isolate the mirror using the tool, Remove all overlapping surfaces and inner surfaces not needed which are

Clearing all the single cons

Created PIDS

Surface meshing:
Logo: 1mm as target length

Grills:

(b) Windows ,tyres & Rear view mirror = 2mm
We so similar process as above and freeze the parts we mesh and imrove quality by going to hidden if any off elements we right click and use improve to reduce off elemnets .

C) lights =4mm

(d) Body,Silencer = 3mm

e) FUll body

Conclusion
- Working on BMW model has cleared more concepts regarding meshing and geometry cleanup .
- learned new tools like curve creating for 3-d surface creation.
- Got more familiar with meshing for differnt PID's.
- Advance topo cleanup.
