Challenge

Week 4 Challenge : CFD Meshing for BMW car

Aim : CFD meshing for BMW car using ANSA.

  1. Target lengths for the different parts of a model are as follow:
  2. Body - 3 mm
  3. Lights - 4 mm
  4. Grills - 1 mm
  5. Rims and Tyres - 2 mm
  6. Optical Rear view mirror - 2 mm
  7. Window - 2 mm
  8. Silencer - 3 mm
  9. Logo - 1 mm

Results:

Grill

Procedure:

  • Delete the thickness of the grill.
  • Delete the face where we have to make the topo cleanup and use New
  • Used project tool to project the cons on the surafce to delete the surface.

Grill

Procedure:

  • Create the hot point at 0.2% distance from the surafce.
  • Draw a line with the help of cut tool on the surafce.
  • Assign the PID to the suraface.
  • Create a surface using New<Fitted.
  • Use topo cleanup.
  • Use intersect tool to delete the unwanted surafce.

Grill

Procedure:

  • Delete the extra surface.
  • Clear the triple cons.
  • Draw a surafce using cut tool.
  • then delete the extra suraface.
  • Remove the upper surface of the grill rod.
  • Now do plane cut by creating hot point at the middle.
  • Connect the surafce using curve<create
  • Then create the new surface using New<fitted
  • Delete the curve line.

Logo

Procedure:

  • Delete the extra surface.
  • Create the surafce using New<Cons
  • Project the logo surafe on to the car body.
  • Clear the triple cons on the 'M' by deleting the surafce, hot point and the creating the surface.

Procedure:

  • Delete the surafce which creating the intersect error.
  • now extend the surafce.
  • After extend, cons will extend so we have to release.
  • Then extend the surafce and delete the back surafce.

Procedure:

  • Delete the extra surafce on top of the car.
  • Delete the extra surafce on the mirror and creating the surface.

Tyre

Meshing

  • Define the PID for each part.
  • Provide the mesh parameters and put the range value in min target length and max target length.
  • Define the quality parameters to avoid distortion of the mesh.
  • Clear all the off element by reconstructing and reshaping the mesh geometry.

Grills -1mm

Light- 4mm

Silencer - 3mm

Tyre,window and optical mirror - 2mm
