1. WASHING MACHINE:

DESCRIPTION: Given input conditions:

  • if the power supply is available, the system gets activated.
  • if the water supply is not available, stop the process and indicate through LED.
  • soaking time should be 200s followed by washing time of 100s.
  • Then rinsing happens for next 20s and dryer runs for 50s.

Here model system logic of a washing machine using state flow has been done(fig 1.1). At first create a chart and enter the given input conditions. After entering the input conditions, go to symbols pane and assign the given variables, ie power_supply and water_supply are selected as the input of the chart and power, water, soak, wash, rinse, dryer and finished are taken as the outputs of the chart. When both power supply and water supply is given(value=1), the washing machine starts operating and when the water supply is not provided, it stops operating. During its operation, its soaks for a time of 200sec, followed by a washing time of 100 sec. Then it is rinsed for a time of 20 sec and sent to a dryer to dry for a time of 50 sce. The constant block is used to taken the power supply and water supply, and use a display block and Lamp indicator to display the results(fig 1.2).

fig 1.2

RESULT: Control logic of a washing machine using state flow has been implemented, it is explained in the following cases.

  • Case - 1: If the power supply= 0, Then power supply is not available and systemsystem will not activate. All the lamps are red in colour indicating that no processes are performed and completed with the output display block having the value= 0 (as in fig 1.3)

fig 1.3

  • Case - 2: If the power supply= 1 and water supply= 0, Then power supply will turn on and water supply will not be available and so system will not activate. The power lamp will show green colour and displayed value= 1 but all other lamps are showing red in colour and displayed value= 0 because it does not execute these processes.

fig 1.4

  • Case - 3: If the power supply= 1 and water supply= 1, Then power supply is turned on and water supply is available, so the system activated. in these sondition it execute all the operation such as soaking for a time of 200 sec, washing for a time of 100 sec, rinsing for a time of time of 20 sec and drying for 50 sec. Then after the completion of all these processes, a finshed lamp will turn ON. Here all the lamps are green in colour indicating all the processes are completed and display block having the value= 1. After all the completion of the processes, a finished lamp is shows green in colour indicating all the processes are finished.

2. GEAR SHIFT :

DESCRIPTION: Given conditions

Speed Range(Km/hr) Gear

0 to 15 1

16 to 25 2

26 to 40 3

41 to 60 4

Above 61 5

A simulink chart is created depending on the above conditions(fig 2.1). Firstly create a chart of the gear shift and enter the given conditions for gear shifting. After entering the input conditions in the chart, go to symbols pane and assign speed is taken as input and value is taken as output. The input block is used a constant block of value 1 and slider gain block. The slider gain block is used to vary the speed given in the input and determine the gear shifts in the output. Use display block to display the gear position(fig 2.2). Here gear shift occurs in both forward shift as well as reverse shift according to the control logic.

fig 2.2

RESILT: It is explained on the basis of gear shift.

  • Case - 1: When speed is in the range of 0-15 km/hr, Gear 1 is activated and the display block shows gear 1 with the lamp showing green colour. take 10.0 km/hr as in fig 2.3

fig 2.3

  • Case - 2: When speed in the range of 16-25 km/hr, Gear 2 is activated and the display block shows gear 2 with the lamp shows red colour. take 21.5 km/hr as in fig 2.4

fig 2.4

  • Case - 3: When speed in the range of 26-40 km/hr, Gear 3 is activated and the display block shows gear 3 with the lamp shows yellow colour. take 34.0 km/hr as in fig 2.5

fig 2.5

  • Case - 4: When speed in the range of 41-60 km/hr, Gear 4 is activated and the display block shows gear 4 with the lamp shows blue colour. take 55 km/hr as in fig 2.6

fig 2.6

  • Case - 5: When speed is above 61 km/hr, Gear 5 is activated and the display block shows gear 5 with the lamp shows violet colour. take 61 km/hr as in fig 2.7
