Week - 4
Aim:
To implement control logic of a " Washing Machine " using state flow & to make a simulink chart for the " Gear Shift "
logic.
Brief:
The working principle for the washing machine is "Centrifugation". It is the seperation process that use the action of
centrifugal force to promote accelerated of particles in a solid liquid mixture. The washing machine consist of a centrifuge for
this purpose. A centrifuge is a piece of equipment that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a force
perpendicular to the axis of spin that can be very strong.
1. Washing Machine Model:
Here I have turned on both the power & the water supply. The simulation is made to run for 350
seconds. The results indicates that the washing process has ended with dryer process been completed. Similarly based on
the time allocation the simulation is made to run to achieve the rest of the process.

State Flow Model Diagram:
A finite state machine is a representation of an event driven system. In an event driven system, the
system responds to an event by making a transition from one state to another. A state flow chart is a graphical
representation of a finite state system.

Symbols:
We gave the water & the power is a input and the water1, power1, soak, wash, rinse and dry is a output.
2. Gear Shift Model:
Here 2 input blocks are kept, one is the constant & the other is the "Slider Gain" block. THe slider gain blocks
performs a scalar gain that you can modify during the simulation. The block support fixed point data types. The value given
in the constant blocks gets multiplied with the slider gain value during the simulation.

State Flow Model Diagram:
As per the question, the gears are arranged step by step with the condition on the speed range. In
the first gear, the speed will be b/w 0-15. The chart is also designated in such a way to satisfy the condition.

Symbols:

We gave the engine and speed is a input and the G is a output.
Steps:
Gear1:
for the first gear, speed is 15 kmph.

Gear2:
for the second gear, speed is 25 kmph.

Gear3:
for the third gear, speed is 40 kmph.

Gear4:
for the fourth gear, speed is 50 kmph.

Gear5:
for the fifth gear, speed is 70 kmph.
