Week - 4 - 2D meshing for Plastic components
Objective
check for the geometrical errors, take the mid surface by suitable mid surfacing techniques, PID and Thickness assignment has to be done for all the mid surfaces,
Mesh the same with the given element Quality criteria, perform Draw shell as solid
Cad model image

Procedure with required images
1. open cad modell in ANSA
2. do geometry cleanup from classic topo- use hot points, cons, faces, surfaces, curves, points, auxilliaries for this.
3. extract mid-surface. since the input part is plastic, faces-mid surface-skin command was used. but it gave improper results. so manual mid-sufacing using offset was used.
individual parts were offset and mid was taken.
4. do meshing from classic mesh - use hot points, perimeters, macros, grids, mesh generation, shell mesh, elements.
symmetry was used in the meshing. opposite trias were avoided. no two trias should touch each other. no trias were on the complex features like fillets. tria percemtage was less than 10.
there were no trias touching any cons or edges other than complex features. there were no rotational quads. there were no trias on edges or fillets. given quality criteria was
satisfied with the given meshing output.
5. draw shell as solid was performed to show how thickened meshing is similar to the original CAD geometry.
