Week - 4 - 2D meshing for Plastic components

AIM: Eliminate all the geometrical errors, extract mid surface for the given bottle cap and mesh the extracted mid surface following all the given quality criteria. assign PIDs and thickness for each extracted surface.

PROCEDURE:

• import the geometry in to ANSA.
• ceck for geometrical errors using checks tool>>geometry and execute by selecting single cons as well.
• try to fix the errors automatically by selecting fix command in checks.
• after fixing all the errors, extract mid surface manually for the given component.
• mainly i have used offset, middle commands from the faces tab in topo module.
• measure thickness and apply offset command to extract a mid surface for the desired face.
• after extracting all the mid surfaces assign, them as different PIDs to assign thickness for each surface.
• insert all the quality and mesh parameters as given and perform meshing on the extracted mid surface.
• using improve(algorithms such as reconstruct, reshape, smooth and fix quality) command try to eliminate all the off elements.
• after meshing and eliminating all possible off elements, apply draw shell as solid command from the quality criteria>>presentation parameters.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

• i have learnt to extract the mid surface for a plastic component having varying thickness.
• i have learnt to use rotate, middle and offset commands to extract mid surfaces.
• i have learnt to assign varying thickness to different parts of the body.

CONCLUSION:

I have succesfully eliminated all the geometrical errors and extracted mid surface. meshed the surface and assigned different thickness for each surface, by satisfying given quality criteria.
