Week - 4 - 2D meshing for Plastic components

Aim : To extract proper mid surface & achive good mesh flow of plastic model

Procedure-

a) Opened component and observed carefully with giving con resolution 1 mm & then gave topo to attach parts to each other.

b) By using check manager checked the geometry errors, some errors occured & cleared by auto fix.

c) Then started to check tickness of componet's each parts. There are no same thickness of all parts, used manual method to extract mid surface.

d)At begining used offset for uniform thickness parts and also used middle for some parts like tapered type parts and for ribs also.

e) BY hiding taken mid surface of rest type elements & for step type element used middle command. I did manually for all step/rest parts.

f) Generated mid for all parts & then by comparing started to edit the mid surface. For that used Extend, Intersect, New faces, cons cut, etc.

g)Ribs/fins were need to extend first then intersect & then delete extra extended parts. & at top to avoid quality failure used new face.

h)Then all this with help of selection tool PID regian separated CAD & mid surface.

i) Here I choose to give PID to each part insted of direct meshing.

j) By clicking mid parts visible started meshing with providing quality criteria & mesh parameters.

k) By using Best meshed the plastic model entirely in one shot & then checked quality of each element, But the small small parts the quality failure occured more & tried to clear but some are still there.

l)To make flow of mesh good used recunstruct, smooth, split, swap, join, etc.

j) At last give shell to solid.

Outcomes: Learned to mid surfacing & meshing of plastic model. Took more time but learned lots.

Conclusion: Plastic model took more time because the tickness is not uniform. Need used possible best method for mid generation & also for mesh .
