Week 3 Verification of Weld Joints
Objective: To compare the weld strength of 3 different materials (Stainless Steel, Aluminum Alloy, Bronze) under a given load of 15000 N for a given assembly.
Steps:
1. Geometry investigation and material assignment:
2. Define contacts and mesh the assembly:
3. Apply boundary conditions and Analysis settings:
4. Setting up the required results:
Results:
The results can be tabulated as below:
| Result | Stainless Steel | Aluminum Alloy | Bronze |
| Directional Deformation (mm) | 0.34987 | 0.36393 | 0.39381 |
| Equi Elastic Strain (mm/mm) | 0.0018731 | 0.0033268 | 0.0031794 |
| Max Equi Stress (of Weld) (MPa) | 293.91 | 245.31 | 254.01 |
Conclusion: As seen from the above-mentioned table, the Stainless Steel welds are strongest because they result in the least deformation. However, the welds of Aluminum alloy and Bronze are comparable in terms of deformation and stress.
