Week 2 Bevel Gear Challenge
Grid Dependency test: In this test, the given model is solved with different mesh sizes keeping everything else the same to evaluate the impact of mesh size on the accuracy of results. In Ansys, the mesh size can be defined as parametric and a table of required results can be obtained in one step, rather than solving each case individually.
Grid test for Bevel Gear:
Refer to the image below to see the Bevel Gear set up:
1. The contacts defined between the teeth:
2. Joints defined for both the gears:
3. Meshing the model (6mm and defined parametrically 5mm, 4 mm):
4. Step Controls:

Grid Dependency Test summary:
Conclusion: As seen from the Grid test summary, a slight variation is visible in Stress and Strain because of different mesh sizes, fine the mesh more reliable the results are.
NOTE: The simulation file after zipping is > 200 MB, hence the files are split into Bevel Gear 1 &2 zipped folders. Please unzip all the folders in one place to open the file.
