Week 3 Verification of Weld Joints
Verification of Weld Joints
In this simulation we will be assigning Stainless Steel, Aluminum Alloy and Bronze as the welding material with the plates and ribs being Stainless Steel, Stainless Steel and Stainless Steel(Plates) and Copper(ribs) respectively.
A load of 15000N is applied on the small plate through the hole.
The Structure is fixed using the holes on the big plate.
The plates in connection are in frictional contact with the coefficient of friction being 0.2 and all the weldments are bonded.
The mesh is generated for 7mm(Default).

It is clear from the generated data that Stainless Steel plate and welds experience the least deformation and generate the least stress and strain.
The highlighted weldment in the attached images has the maximum stress generated.
