Project

Simulink

1. AIM: -

To determine the work done by force acting on a cutting tool of a shaping machine

2. OBJECTIVE: -

Based on the given data like forces acting on a cutting tool according to the length of the cut and we need to calculate the work done.

The force on a cutting tool of a shaping machine varies over the length of cut as follows:

Distance (mm) 0 20 40 60 80 100

Force (KN) 60 72 65 53 44 50

3. GOVERNING FORMULA: -

Work done based on the variable force and distance travelled,

`W=∫f.dx`

4. MODEL: -

5. INPUT: -

Repeating sequence block: -

We gave input by using repeating sequence block as per given in challenge. We can also use a signal builder block here.

6. Output: -

To see the output, we used scope or display block.

In output display block we can see that the total work done is 5780 KN-mm. As the distance increases the work done also increases with distance travel of tool. We take sample time is 100 sec because we had given condition till 100 mm distance.

7. CONCLUTION: -

We can conclude that the obtained results are satisfactory so we can say that our simulation is successful.

1. AIM: -

Create a Simulink model to implement equation.

2. OBJECTIVE: -

Create a Simulink model to implement equation Store result values using To File block.

Create two array data sets x = [22 3 55.6 9 12 10] and y = [5 31 95 56.3 77 61] from the command window.

3. MODEL: -

4. DESCRIPTION: -

  • Vectors are created as given in challenge with the help of command window.

  • Square block is used to create the square of x vector.
  • Gain block is used to give input to add block. Also, constant block is used to give constant value to add block.
  • Then add block give z value in a display block. Where we got our output.
  • The value for output z was saved with the help of a file block which saves file in .mat file.

5. CONCLUSION: -

From the above observation we can conclude that we were simulate given equation and save variable in .mat file with help of ‘To file’ block.

6. REFERENCE: -

1. AIM: - With the help of MATLAB help import ‘Mass-Spring-Damper in Simulink and Simscape’ model and simulate for different input.

2. OBJECTIVE: -

  • Derive the governing equation for the model
  • Change the value of mass, damper, and spring for the Simscape model and plot the result.
  • Change the value of Mass, displacement as x0=2 in the Simulink model, and plot the results.
  • Make the response from Simscape and Simulink as two separate displays.

3. DERIVATION USED IN MODEL: -

  • Newton second law of motion: -

Newton's second law, which states that the force F acting on a body is equal to the mass m of the body multiplied by the acceleration a of its centre of mass,

(1 equation)

`F=ma`

But here multiple forces acting as follows,

`F1=−kx` (Force of spring)

`F2=−cdx/dt` (Damping force)

Therefore, total force acting on the system,

`F=F1+F2`

(2 equation)

`F=−kx−cdx/dt`

As we know that, Acceleration is the second derivative of displacement so,

`a=dx^2/dt^2`

Adding mass m in equation

(3 equation)

`m.a=m.dx^2/dt^2`

From equation (1), (2) and (3)

`−kx−cdx/dt=m.dx^2/dt^2`

`m.dx^2/dt^2+cdx/dt+kx=0`

Divided equation by m therefore.

`dx^2/dt^2+cm(dx/dt)+km(x)=0`

Above is the governing equation for mass spring damper system.

The equation used in model is as follows,

`−km(x)−cm(dx/dt)=dx^2/dt^2`

4. MODEL: -

Here we can see that there were two models of simulation based on the above derivative and result for velocity of mass is obtained.

5. INPUT VARIABLES: -

We gave input as variables in both Simulink and simscape.

6. OUTPUT: -

We gave the same input for both the models so we got the exact same graph for both models.

7. CONCLUTION: -

We can conclude that for new input in model gives satisfactory results and plot all results for model as per given condition.
