Week - 3 Drop test Challenge

OBJECTIVE:- To simulate the drop test of Mobile.

In this challenge, the simulation of the drop test is done. The keyword file is given for this challenge.

This model is having three parts namely mobile, bottom plate, and upper plate. The mobile and bottom plate is solid and the upper plate is the shell. To simplify this problem I have considered only mobile and bottom plate for drop test simulation. In this simulation gm, mm, and s used as a basic unit. The freefall condition is considered for this simulation in which the calculated velocity is given to the mobile.

1. First, we will assign a solid section for both parts.

.

2. After this material for both parts is defined. Linear Plastic material is selected for mobile and rigid material is selected for the bottom plate. The properties are given below

3. After defining the section and the material, we will assign the material and section to both parts.

4. Next, the boundary condition is assigned to the mobile and bottom plate. An initial velocity of 623.27002 mm/s in -z-direction is applied and the bottom plate is fixed.

5. After this, the keyword file is saved and run of LS Dyna pre-post. The results are shown below-

(A) Von- Mises Stress

(B) Kinetic Energy

(C) Total Energy

In this simulation, the results are not focused. The purpose of this challenge is to understand the keyword file and run the simple model.
