Week 3 Challenge : CFD meshing on Turbocharger
CFD MESHING ON TURBOCHARGER
AIM:
To deploy the volume mesh along with surface mesh on the Turbocharger which includes advanced TOPO cleanup and assigning PID with different selection techniques using ANSA V22.
OBJECTIVE:
To perform the volumetric meshing on the turbocharger, by doing advanced Topo cleanup of the geometry and surface meshing with different mesh target length.
PROCEDURE:
1.Importing the file.

2.Perform Geometry Check
a.Tools>Checks>Geometry checks.

3.Delete Overlapping surfaces.

4.Creating New Surfaces.
a.Faces>New

5.Delete intersecting faces.

6.Closing the flow openings.

7.Performing Final Geometry checks.

8.Creating and Assigning PID’s

12.Volumetric Mesh Generation
a.Define the Wholedatabase.
b.Generated Volumes-8 Volumes.

c.Deleting the unnecessary Volumes

d.Assigning the Tetra CFD Mesh for the available volumes

e.Generated Volumetric Mesh

LEARNING OUTCOME:
I learnt to create the Volumetric mesh for Turbocharger which includes Advanced Topo cleanup of the geometry which has overlapping surfaces along with assigning different Target length's 1mm,2mm,5mm for different surfaces. Similarly, identifying the errors in the model using geometry checks and identifying the overlap surfaces. Eliminating the unnecessary volumes and performed Tetra CFD meshing for the Required Volumes.
RESULT:
Volumetric Meshing for the Turbocharger model is carried out with Tetra CFD Mesh having different mesh lengths for different volumes.
CONCLUSON:
The main theme of this challenge is to deploy the Volumetric Mesh for different volumes provided the Tetra CFD mesh having 6817096 elements and Tria Mesh having 915104 elements which can be promoted to fluid simulations.
