Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Q1 :

the file was saved as EV_defaults1_in.m, and it was attached below for your reference

FTP drive cycle lasts for only 17.77 km so, here we have used 3 cycles to go to 45 km range as mentioned in the question and the file is attached as 'cycle1_sim.mat'

Conclusion:

The conclusions are shown in the above picture . here you can clear see that the vehicle can travel upto 41.4 km only it doesnot support 45 km range.

Q2:

The same is repeated for different battery capacity and the file is attached below as 'EV_defaults2_in.m'

Here I have changed the battery modules from 25 to 40 to increase battery capacity

This is same as we see in the previous question . so, same file is taken as reference

Conclusion:

comparing to the previous question answer here the distance range of vehicle is increased because the battery capacity was increased

Q3:

the above picture shows you the prius model and it was attached as file 'PRIUS_JPN_defaults_in.m' below for your reference.

here i have the gradability test and in the grade options which is showed as popup window in the above picture i have the selected the all system enabled , using different combination of speed and duration i have created a six sets of data and calculated the gradeability and it is mentioned below . the file was attached below as 'grade2_sim.mat' for your reference. Here i have selected UDDS drive cycles for 5 times.

Results :

1. speed 25 mph duration 10 sec

the gradeability is 16.5%

2. speed 35 mph duration 10 sec

Here the gradeability is 13%

3. speed 45 mph duration 10 sec

Here the gradeability is 10.7%

4. speed 45 mph duration 20 sec

Here the gradeability is 13.4%

5. speed 45 mph duration 30 sec

Here the gradeability is 14.1%

6.speed 45 mph duration 40 sec

Here the gradeability is 14.4%

Conclusion:

With constant duration 10 sec , variable speed With constant speed 45 mph , variable duration

Speed(mph) Gradeability(%) Duration (sec) Gradeability(%)

25 16.5 20 13.4

35 13 30 14.1

45 10.7 40 14.4

From the above tabular coloumn we can infer that Keeping duration as constant and increasing speed the gradeability decreases

when keeping speed as constant and increasing duration the gradeability decreases
