Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Solution:

1) With a cargo mass of 500kg and keeping remaining parameters as same, in one FTP cycle the vehicle is able to travel a distance of 11miles i.e. around 17.8km. The SOC of the battery at the end of one FTP is around 0.6 so the vehicle can travel for atleast another 2 FTP cycles before another charge. I had increased the FTP cycles to 5 but at the end of third FTP cycle the SOC of battery become zero and the vehicle came to halt. The total distance covered by the vehicle is around 42 km. So with single charge the vehicle cannot cover a distance of 45km.

2) Now, I increased the battery capacity of the vehicle to 75 modules and the nominal voltage of the vehicle is maintained around 910v.In this case with one FTP cycle the covered same distance as in previous case 17.8km, but the SOC of the battery is at 85%. Number of drive cycle is given as 5 instead of one and the vehicle covered a distance of 88.9km.

3) The gradeability test has been performed on the prius_jpn_defaults and the observations are as follows:
