Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Question 1: For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
Solution:
From the screen we can see that EV_default file is loaded abd cargo weight is changed to 500 KG
FTP Drive cycle is selected for reference for 3 Cycles
And simulation is run for the given data
From the runned data we can see that distancr covered by vehicle in 3 cycles is 25.7 Miles that is 41.36 Km and we can see that battery is totally drained. even if the cycles are increased vehicle will not be able to cross 45KM mark with that battery capacity.

Question 2: In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Considering same parameters but changing battery capacity same simulation is runned
From screen we can see that No of Modules in battery are changed to 30 from 25 and simulation is runned with FTP drive cycle for 3 cycles
From the simulation runned data we can see that the total distance covered is 30.5 miles that is 49.08 km.
From this we can colclude that with change inn battery capacity more range can be obtained.

Question 3:Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Solution:
PRIUS_jpn_defaults is runned in ADVISOR with default settings and Gradibality test is also selected to perform,
Drive cycle is selected as FTP for reference calculations.
FTP drive for 3 cycles is selected with gradability test
Gradability parameters are set to defaults with speed at 55mps
at 55mph speed gradability obtained as 1.7%
Hence for different speed the gradability is caclulated and compared in a table
Hence gradability at different speeds is shown below,
We can see that as the speed of the vehicle is increased the gradability of the vehicle is decreased.
