Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Question 1

steps

  1. open advisor tool
  2. select "EV_defaults_in" in load file
  3. change cargo mass parameter to 500kg
  4. select "CYC_FTD" in drive cycle list
  5. change the number of cycle to get required distance

obersavtion of results

for 1 cycle the distance travelled is 17.7 km

for 2 cycle the distance travelled is 35.4 km

for 3 cycle the distance travelled is 41.3 km

for 4 cycle the distance travelled is 41.3 km

for 5 cycle the distance travelled is 41.3 km

Therefore the vehicle cannot travel upto 45 km.increase in weight leads to power loss.

In default condition the vehicle can run to 45 km but we increase weight to 500kg so in FTP drive cycle the vehicle can not run upto 45 km

Question 2

steps :

the above simulation is performed with default energy storage capacity and with different energy storage capacities

15 modules storage capacity

one cycle

two cycles

three cycles

four cycles

20 modules storage capacity

one cycle

two cycles

three cycles

four cycles

five cycles

25 modules storage capacity

one cycle

two cycles

three cycles

four cycles

five cycles

six cycles

30 modules storage capacity

one cycle

two cycles

three cycles

four cycles

five ycles

six cycles

Observations of result :

By increasing the capacity or energy storage storage module the distance travelled is also increased we performed different simulations with different capacities which the final result is obtained as energy is directly proportional to the distance travelled.

It means if the energy is more distance travelled by the vehicle is more, if the energy is less distance travelled by the vehicle is also less.

Question 3

steps :

  1. select 'PRIUS_JPN_defaults_in' in load file in advisor tool
  2. now select the gradeability parameter and perform simulation
  3. change the speeds and peform different simulations
  4. obtained results are tabulated

observations of result :

As we observe for low speed gradeability is more and if the speed is more the gradebility percentage is less

Therefore the gradeability percentage is Inversely proportional to the speed
