Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Solution for Question 1:

Advisor ( Advanced Vehicle Simulator ) tool

Once the advisor code file is successfully runned in the MATLAB and command is given as Advisor

then the vehicle GUI will open

now we can design the vehicle with our deisred values of input.

For mass 500 KG

EV_default_in the file is opeened and the has value has been given

Drive Cycle has been changed to CYC_FTP

when the advisor tool is runned

From above plots it is concluded that vehicle run for a distance of 17.8 kilometer, it can not run for 45 kilometer in a single charge.

Also SOC has reached zero just before 2500 seconds.

Solution for Question 2:

here we are changing the battery capacity and repeating the simulation

keeping the drive cycle constant and the output obtained was

distance travelled by the vehicle is 17.8 km as shown above

The SOC discharge rate has changes to 0.83 in 2500 seconds unlke 0 in the last simulation.

In the order for SOC to reach 0 drive cycle needs to run 10 times.

After 10 cycle the SOC has reached 0 at approximately 13500 seconds. By that time vehicle has travelled 96 kilometer.

Solution for Question 3:

PRIUS_jpn_defaults_in the file has been loaded in the screen.

to change the gradeability , click on continue.

speed was fixed at 55 mph

For 55 mph , the gradeability obtained was 1.7%

speed was adjusted to 45 mph and the gradeability obtained was 2.2%

the speed was adjusted to 30mph , the gradeabilty was 2.5%

it is proved that when gradeability increase the gradeability decreases.
