Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

lets try to check for cargo mass 500kg and the energy storage is ESS_PB25_IDEAL.

click on continue to change the configuration for FTP cycle.

Now selecting the cycle mode to CYC_FTP and selecting number of cycles =1:

lets check the result by clicking on "Run" button :

Here we can see in a 1 FTP cycle vehicle goes to 17.8 km. So we can say that in single charge vehicle will not rach to 45 km.

also the battry state of charge (SOC)is observed as 0 near to 2500ms.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

here we will select the another battery storage type as ESS_PB65_FocusEV.

Lets check the result while keeping the cycle configuration as it is (CYS_FTP):

Here we can see the results are almost same as previous. Only the change on state of cahrge of battery (SOC) it is almotobserved more than 0.8.

lets try to check travel capacity of vehicle by changing the cycle count. As 1 driving cycle cunsumes almost 20% of battery charge. Lets check for 6 cycles.

lets hit the Run button to observ the results:

Here we can observe that vehicle will run almost 88.1 km distance. Still it has an battery charge almost 10% means state of charge (SOC) is 0.1.

so by changing the charge capacity of battery we can will get the vehicle travel range in praportion with it.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

Lets select the model as Toyota_PRIUS_Jpn.

hit the continue button to configure cycle and the gradebility:

1)select cycle as CYC_USSD.we will configure vehicle for 55 mph and lets check the value of gradeblity.

Lets check the result by cliking the Run button :

1)The gradeblity value at 88.5km/h is 1.7%

2)Lets check for 40mph

2)Result we can see that the gradeblity value is 2.5% at speed of 64.4kmph.

so we can conclude that as the speed decreases the gradeblity decreases and vice versa
