Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
ADVISOR Tool for Simulation
ADVISOR, NREL’s Advanced vehicle Simulator, is a set of model, data, and script text files for use with Matlab and Simulink. It is designed for rapid analysis of the performance and fuel economy of conventional, electric, and hybrid vehicles. ADVISOR also provides a backbone for the detailed simulation and analysis of user defined drivetrain components, a starting point of verified vehicle data and algorithms from which to take full advantage of the modeling flexibility of Simulink and analytic power of MATLAB.

- For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Concluding observations.
The EV Default vehicle is a pure electric vehicle where the only power source for vehicle is battery
Cargo mass change from 136 to 500 kg

The Drive cycle is FTP (Federal test procedure) and maximum distance for one FTP is 17.7 km. To achieve the 45 km distance we repeat cycle 2.55 times.

Test Results

Conclusion
From above simulation we understand that the vehicle didn’t complete 45 km distance for given battery capacity. The simulator display error for it. So to achieve 45 km distance we required to increase battery capacity of vehicle.
- In the above case, changing the battery capacity and repeating the simulation.
Changing battery capacity to 35 modules from 25 modules

Performing gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Toyota PRIUS is hybrid vehicle which has engine and battery both as an power source
