Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1.GIVEN STATEMENT:

For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

• Advisor tool is advanced vehicle simulator primarly used for modeling the vehicle in steady state.
• In the dropdown list the EV_Default_in is chosen and cargo mass is changed to 500kg.
• Now the driver cycle is chosen as CYC_FTP and it is run for 2 drive cycles.
• therefore it can travel a 35.5km
• now drive cycle are changed to 3,now it can be observed that distance travelled 41.4km.

It can be concluded that the vehicle cannot travel for speed of 45km with the current FTP cycle bcoz the state of charge of the battery has reached to zero after completion of three drive cycles.

2.GIVEN STATEMENT:

In the case ,try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

• Number of battery modules is changed from 25 to 35,therefore nominal voltage of the battery has changed from 308 to 432V.
• for the 3 CYC_FTP Drive cycles.now the distance travelled by the vehicle is 53.2km
• now the 4 drive cycles are chosen and the vehicle can travel up to 56.5km.it can be observed that before completion of 4 drive cycles the soc of battery reached to zero.

3.GIVEN STATEMENT:

perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_default_in file. compare your result in table and conclude.

• the gredeability test is performed by considering the HEV,EV and IC engine for a speed of 20mph.
• for HEV vehicle at a distance of 20mph the geadeability observed was 19.8%
• now we have considered the EV by disabling the engine than the gradeability was 19.8% for 20mph.
• now we hve considered IC engine alone the gradeability was found to be NIL foe 20mph.
