Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations
ADVISOR (Advanced Vehicle Simulator) is a MATLAB/Simulink based simulation program.
It will analyse the performance and fuel economy for vehicle with conventional, Hybrid-electric, only electric and fuel cell based vehicle
Considering EV_defaults_in file is an electric vehicle

Figure 1
Figure 1 shows the specification of given Electrical vehice with cargo mass = 500KG

Figure 2
In figure 2 selected CYC_FTP as a input drive cycle, distance for the selected drive cycle is 17.77 KM
To check for 45 KM regarding battery condition(State Of Charge=0), considered 3 cycles
17.77 * 3 = 53.31 KM

Figure 3
Figure 3 shows the at 41 km battery discharged to 0 %,
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Figure 4
Figure 4 shows the changing battery capacity to 28 cell

Figure 5
Figure 5 shows the result with respect to 28 cell battery capacity and total distance covered = 46.3 km, Hence 28 cell capacity of battery is sufficient to run 45 km
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
The vehicle used to simulate is Toyoto prius parallel (PRUS_JPN_defaults_in)

Figure 6
Figure 6 shows the specifications of Toyoto prius parallel vehicle
43 KW of engine with 39% maximum efficiency
Voltage rating of battery is 308 with 40 kg weight and 40 cells
31 KW of motor with 91% maximum efficiency
for gradeability test , considered speed varying for 10 to 100 mph by keeping the grade value constant. Time duratio = 10 sec
Figure 7 to Figure 12 shows the results of gradeability test results

Figure 7

Figure 8
Figure 8 shows the gradeability % is 30.3 % at 16.1 kmph

Figure 9
Figure 9 shows the gradeability % is 19.8% at 32.2 kmph

Figure 10
Figure 10 shows the gradeability % is 14.7 % at 48.3 kmph

Figure 11
Figure 11 shows the gradeability % is 9.7% at 80.5 kmph

Figure 12
Figure 12 shows the gradeability % is 6.3% at 112.7 kmph

FIgure 13
Figure 13 shows the table for gradability value at different speeds with constant grade ratio
from the figure 13, conclude that increasing in speed value gradability percentage value will decrease
