Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

AIM: To use ADVISOR tool and simulate the given conditions.

Objective:

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file and Compare your results in table and conclude.

1.

• Open the advisor tool in matlab and select the EV_defaults_in file in load file.
• And also change the cargo mass to 500kg.
• Keep the default conditions as it is.

This are the simulation parameters

Select the CYC_FTP drive cycle and here the distance is 17.77km we need 45km

So change the cycles to 3 cycles and run the simulation.

This are the results for the simulation

Full charge for battery is completed without completing 45km.

The SOC of the vehicle can give 41.1km.

So the vehicle cannot complete 45km by the vehicle SOC.

2. By changing the battery capacity and keeping all conditions same lets run the simulation and identify the amount of power required for 45km.

By changing the no of battery modules to 30 we get 370v and run the simulation.

For 30 mod the vehicle can go upto 49.1km .

By changing the no of mod to 27 and run the simulation.

The vehcle can run upto 46.3km.

3. Gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in

This are the simulation parameters and the drive cycle is CYC_UDDS.

And select the gradeabilty test.

This are the grade test advanced options.

Simulation time 10sec.

Case 1: 35mph

For 35mph the gradeabilty is 2.4%.

Case 2:45mph

For 45mph the gradeabilty is 2.2%.

Case 3:55mph

For 55mph the gradeabilty is 1.7%.

Case 4:65mph

For 65mph the gradeabilty is 1.2%.

By incresing speed the gradeabilty decresing.
