Week 3 Challenge

QUESTION 1) DESIGN OF COMPRESSION MEMEBER.

AIM ::- To find effective length of columns

RESULT ::- Effective length factor of given conditions are

a) k= 2 b) k= 2 c) k= 0.8

QUESTION 4) DESIGN OF LACED COLUMN

Aim ::- To design a single laced column made up of two channels placed back to back of 10m heigth carrying 1000 kN factored load.

Procedure ::-

Result ::- Column with two channels placed back to back 147mm spacing between them and single lacing with 494mm spacing between lacings. lacing is safe in compression and tension.

QUESTION 5) DESIGN OF BATTENED COLUMN.

Aim ::- To design of battened column made up of two channels placed back to back of 5m height carrying factored axial load of 2000 kN. Battens are welded.

Procedure ::-

RESULT :- Design of battened column is failed.
