OBJECTIVE

Meshing of mid surface of given components

BODY OF THE CONTENT

  • Open cad model
  • Perform geometric clean up by using various tools like faces-->cut,delete ,and perform topo operations whenever needed for joining boundaries
  • Go to check geometry manager and clear all geometrical errors. use auto fix and manually fix them if needed
  • Identify those triple cones present and rectify them by usong various tools like release, topo ,paste opotions
  • Measure the thickness to identify sheet metal components if they are uniform
  • Extract midsurface after geometric cleanup either by offset method or automatic mid surface extraction method I.e mid surface from faces in classic mode and save them as separate pids for different components and apply quality criteria

  • Input quality criteria according to our aim which can be inputted by f11 operation and set mesh parameter for minimum and max length
  • Generate mesh using best operation and do reconstruct from shell mesh for better mesh flow.

  • Use smooth operation for better flow
  • Avoid trias forming in feature lines by moving them using split, swap, paste and make sure trias forms as a pattern and are spaced out.make sure quality criteria is completely satisfied for each element and no off element is found

  • For symmetric models delete one face and perform meshing operations and then reflect for other side

transform-->copy option for easier completion of work

  • In hemming regions supress lines on either sides of middle line so that it doesn’t fail for quality criteria

Conclusion

Mid surface of all components has been made and meshing has been done and saved as different pids

Trias has been kept to minimum to avoid failure due to stress concentration

Quality criterias are all satisfied as per given and off elements are avoided to a zero
