Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal

Objective:

The objective of this project is to take the mid surface for all the components after checking the geometrical errors and mesh the mid surface with the given element Quality criteria.

Procedure:

The first step is to import the Hood model into the ANSA software.

After importing, should do a top and a geometry check before further process.

Extracting the mid-surface:

By skin or offset tool, extract the mid surface of the outer panel, inner pannel, latch reinforcement, and hinge reinforcement separately.

Next set the values of the quality criteria in shells.

Meshing:

In the mesh module, the length of perimeters and macros are to be set before meshing the element.

Apply the best mesh on the element and terminate all the rotating quads and Opposite trias from the model.
