Week 3

Step 1 - Geometry Cleanup:

  1. Gave topo to whole model.
  2. Corrected the orientation in Entity Mode. By giving orient – Visible command.
  3. Open Property manager and rename each Property as per requirement.
  4. Select any one property & do show only command.
    1. Give show only to Selected part –
      1. Go to check manager. Check for Geometry.
      2. Triple cons error is showing in bulk.
  • Select all triple cons error & give autofix command. Ansa will automatically fix the possible errors.
  1. Still some triple cons are showing.
  2. To remove select & show each triple cons. Use 1st neighbor command to show cons connected to this triple cons. Then release the cons connected to this triple cons.
  3. Now use delete hotspot command to delete extra hotpoints. Then add required hotspots & Give topo command.
  • The triple cons will be removed.

Step 2 – Midsurfacing:

  1. Select and do show only on the part to be mid surfaced in Property manager.
  2. Now measure the thickness of part node to node of opposite faces using measure command. Now store the measured part through store command in measure dialog box.
  3. Select Offset command and select the face on any one side of the part. Then Provide the value half the times of thickness of the part.
  4. Using I-not command select any one cons of offset surface formed & press neighbour command till no neighbors found.
  5. Store the view by going to lock view command.
  6. Now we have to check the midsurfacing is done correct or not.
  7. Make arrangements in lock view so that midsurfaced part is only visible.
  8. Do topo on this visible midsurfaced part.
  9. Use Shadow mode to check if the midsurface generated is correct or intersecting any other surface. Also check the orientation & correct if not single color on one side.

Step 3 - Meshing :

  1. Set PID for each midsurfaced parts :-
    1. Go to lock view and select show only for any mid-surfaced part.
    2. Go to Set PID option & window select the mid-surfaced component.
    3. Then in PID window go to new P Shell & set parameters and give ok command.
  2. Now go to mesh module. Check the single element length using measure command & set the length required asper quality criteria using Length command.
  3. Check any inconsistency of length at the edges & curved parts. If found remove hot points to maintain the element length to required length.
  4. Set Quality criterias using F11 key to open quality criteria window.
  5. Set Criteria as per requirements. In presentation parameters > Graphics > Tick Element %. Also slide the point of Detail on demand effect to All details. Then Apply > OK
  6. Go to Mesh parameters tab and set target length as per requirement.
  7. Now start meshing parts which is more critical Feature first.
  8. To mesh use best command and select the areas to be meshed.
  9. After meshing open hidden view mode so that any quality criteria not fulfilled shall be visible.
  10. Correct the mesh pattern manually or using reconstruct command (Automatic) and fulfill the quality criteria. There shouldn’t be any trias at the perimeter of the geometry as well as no two trias opposite to each other.
  11. The macros should be bound to each other. There shouldn’t be any gap between mesh macros we have to paste the gaps. We can check this using bound option in drawing style tab. The bounding lines between two surfaces should be yellow.
  12. Always remember to keep the finite element & CAD to be bound.
  13. Now check for all quality criteria if showing no error then the model meshing is completed.
