Week 3

Objective:

The given model should be free from geometrical errors with good mesh flow and satisfy the given quality criteria.

Model:

Hood assembly is associated with four subcomponents

Basic Procedures Followed for all components

1.The components is been extracted using middle surface option and checked for geometrical errors once again. Cleared all geomterical errors.

2. Middle surface extracted components are set for perimeter length and macro length as same as target element length.

Sub-Component 1:

Before Meshing

After Meshing

1. Have meshed only the half of the component since it is symmetry component and then copied the mesh to the other half.

2. Have performed defeaturing in macro areas wherever necessary.

3. Since it is a main hood component there were lot of complicated areas where minimum element failing was happening

Sub-Component 2

Before meshing

After Meshing

1. Critical macro areas were easily managed and 98% error free meshing is performed.

Sub- component 3

Before Meshing

After Meshing

1. componenet is 100% error free mesh.

2. Trias at the converging edges couldnt able to avoid it due to small macro areas.

Sub-component 4

Before meshing

After Meshing

1. This componenet is a identical symmetry component. Have meshed on one half and is mirrored along with the entity. Total elements failing for this component is 43. Have concentrated more onthe hem region to avoid element failure.

Snapshots are attached for reference.

Sub Component 5

Before Meshing

After Meshing

1. Out of two similar components have tried different approach for meshing. In which the above approach seems to have good result.

1. Overall meshing of hood and its tria percentage is mentioned in the above image.
