Week 2 Railwheel and Track
AIM: To perform the static structural analysis on the Railwheel and Track.
PROCEDURE:
- First we we import the geometry in workbench. After that go edit the model to add the conditions to it.
- The model is shown below:

- The material we using for this is Structural steel which is already assigned to the component.
- Now we are assign the contacts to the components.
- So the first contact is wheel and rail. The values and all the parameters are shown below:

- The second contact is between shaft and the wheel as shown below:

- Now the contacts are done so we are going to define the joints for the component.
- So first we will fix the railtrack, for that go the connection and create a joint as shown below:

- Here fixed the both side of the rail.
- Now next is we will define translation motion to the shaft, so for that go the connection and create a translational joint as shown:

- Next is the planer joint, create a joint and select the face of the wheel as shown:

- Now we will mesh the component for this we are using overall element size as 50mm but to we are using element size of 35 mm for specific surfaces. To assign the the specific element size go the sizing. As shwon below:

- And then upadate the mesh. The final meshing is shown below:

- Now after that we will define the Analysis settings.
- For that the changes we have to make are shown below:

- Now after that we are gonna apply bearing load of 100000N in Y direction. As shown below:

- Now after this we are going to give translational motion to the wheel in X direction. As shown:

- Now the all this is done we will solve. And will generate the data.
FOR 100000N:
Total Deforamtion:

Equivalent Stress:

Life:

- Now we will solve the process for 500000N.
Total Deforamtion:

Equivalent Stress:

Life:

| Sr No. | Load (N) | Total Deformation(mm) | Equivalent Stress (MPa) | Life |
| 1 | 1e+5 | 1000 | 119.81 | 1e+6 |
| 2 | 5e+5 | 1002 | 499.34 | 1e+6 |
CASE 2: Implement a User defined result and calculate the Total Deformation from this result and check if it is the same as that obtained by the inbuilt result by ANSYS for a load of 100000 N.

CONCLUSION:
So as we can see here, the Total Deformation for the both loads are same. But the Equivalent Stress for load 1e+05 is 119.8MPa whereas for 5e+05 is 499.34MPa. The life for the both loads is same.
