Challenge

Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

Aim-To do a Surface meshing of the valve and to acknowledge the difference and the quality of mesh of the three targeted parameters i.e,

Targeted length- 1mm, 3mm, 5mm

Element type- Tria

Procedure-

  • To conduct a mesh in a geometry first ensure that the geometry should be clean i.e, no topology error.
  • Clean geometry represents no single cons(i.e red line), no triple cons(i.e blue line, but sometimes it can be neglected) and no unnecessary hot points.
  • After cleaning up the geometry Pid regions should be assigned to the respective PIds. So it helps to identify and to notice while meshing.
  • For meshing define the perimeters and micros by selecting the respective pids and then apply the tool spot.mesh which lies under the option Mesh generation.
  • Then analyse the which targeted length gives a good meshing result.

Explanation-

Case-1, Targeted length-1mm

The meshing of the entire geometry is fine and accurate and the meshing gives a refined output of the geometry.

Case-2, Targeted length-3mm

The meshing of the entire geometry can be bearable, it is not as fine as the first case but can be considered.

Case-3,Targeted length-5mm

The surface of the entire geometry got disturbed while meshing with this case and it totally wreaks the surficial finish of the entire geometry especially in the case of spring, inlet, outlet and base.

Conclusion-

So as a conclusion, the good meshing results occurred while using the targeted length-1mm because the lesser the targeted length, the more clear and accurate meshing can be done. And the surface parameters can also be well defined.
