Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Aim: TO Mesh the pressure vale with three different mesh sizes, by doing geometry cleanup and naming the surfaces accordingly .
Methodology:
Firstly load the model and check for single cons
1

and from faces-> new ->option

use the appropriate selection and fille the surfaces by selecting the loop or entities accordingly

and middle click to fill the face ,
for all the single cons, use wire frame exactly define the cons.
Once the new faces are created from Top-faces, the model looks like as below

but here it has extra double cons which limit the element length , so we need to suppress that by using FACES-> CUT and right-clicking the edge

the edges are now suppressed as above , we can proceed for checks by navigating to

and using ANSA template

we can ignore the triple cons since there are surfaces sharing the same edge and which was intended in this model.
Now we will Assign the properties of the geometry, by navigating to

or Alternatively pressing Ctrl+P,and by right clicking the default collector and selecting PSHELL since its a surface meshing , A new window opens where you can enter the name of the collector.

By navigating to property name and right clicking apply and selecting the appropriate face , and middle click will send those faces to the selected collectors.
Meshing:
Once this is done we move to our next step which is Generation of the Mesh , and adjust the minimum length in the Quality Criteria.
We need to switch to Mesh mode from Topo mode. And select the perimeter->length option

Case1 :1mm
we need to give the Target length of 1mm for our 1st case

the generated mesh

the number of elements are 210136 , and the mesh generated is fine and covering all the faces properly. And the critical area such as spring are covered appropriately.
Case 2 : 3mm
we need to give the Target length of 3 mm for our 2nd case

under Mesh parameters the target length is gven by the average of min and max , hence for 3 mm its 1(min length) 5 (max length)

hence we have given in the quality criteria the min and max values accordingly as

For 3mm length the components inside

it can be observed that many of the element have not aligned with features of the surface, hence this will not be an exact representation of the domain , the number of elements created are 23890, and the time it has taken to complete the mesh was very little.
Case3:5mm
Simailarly for 5mm , same steps were taken
the mesh generated is as below

and the internal critical areas

not covered appropriately , and the number of element are 9026 .
Conclusion:
As we increase the target length the time to mesh the domain decreases
And the number of elements decreases
And the Model doesn't cover the geometry appropriately as we increase the target length and the elements generated are of poor quality.
