Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
For the given model, checking for the geometrical errors and perform Topology cleanup accordingly. Setting up three different target lengths as three different cases and mesh the model.
- Target length = 1mm, 3 mm and 5 mm (i.e. 3 cases)
- Element type = Tria
First step is to importing the geometry:

After importig the geometry checking the error in the topology:

After checking the errors seeing the geometry in the wireframe mode which gives us the idea of where and how the errors can be rectified.

After rectifing the erros with help of new function in the topology and the column of face we can fill the errors with "Coons, Fitted, Planes and Existing surf". Selecting any of the function in the geometry and clicking in the cons of the geometry to create a surface or to rectify to the errors.
After rectfying the errors and and again checking the geometry and seeing it in the wireframe mode:

While checking the geometry we can see that there is a warning of triple cons which means there it is a connecting of the geometry with 3 cons or the 3 surfaces:

After checking the geometry, now
Generating names for the PIDs in the region:

Column

Inlet, Outlet and Body:

Valve Head

Spring:

After generating the for the PID region and checking the geometry and finding no erorrs in it we can proceed eith the meshing:
Case 1) Meshing size of 5mm
We have to change the mesh to 5mm where we have to keep the length as 5 mm for the length( for both perimeter and macros).
After changing the length ( for both perimeter and macros) now, changing the parameter of the mesh and keeping the target length as 5mm and min length and 3mm and changing the quality of the mesh to tria.
Changing the Quality criteria of the mesh first we have to select the all the criteria and change to max and min length to 7mm and 3mm.
Now generating the mesh .

As you can see the quality of the mesh is not good in the spring section due to higher number of mesh size than the diameter of the spring which is less than 2mm and the edge of the valve head.
Case 2) Meshing size of 3mm
Proceeding with same protocols as the case on just changing the mesh size/target length to 3mm and max and min length to 1mm and 3mm.

As you can see the quality of mesh is improved from the above case but not finley due to diameter of the spring is less than the target length
Case 3 ) Meshing size of 1mm
Proceeding with same protocols as the above case on just changing the mesh size/target length to 3mm and max and min length to 1mm and 3mm.

The quality of the mesh is improved by the above 2 cases and gives the finer mesh.
From the Above 3 cases we can conclude that the lesser the target length finer is the mesh and gives the better quality of the mesh.
