Challenge

Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

AIM: Geometry Topo cleanup and generate mesh for 1 mm, 3 mm & 5 mm target lengths.

PROCEDURE:

1. Open the model in ANSA CFD and check for Geometry status with the ANSA Checks tool.

note: above Check is after the Topology activity.

2. Topo cleanup for closing open surfaces & deleting single CONS.

3. Assigning shell properties for individual components.

4. Fixing target length in Mesh parameters.

5. Assigning minimum & Maximum lengths in Quality Criteria.

6. Mesh Generation.

Parameter --> Length --> Parameter as 1 mm & Macro as 1 mm

7. Visible option in Spot mesh to view generated mesh elements.

Mesh Generation --> Spot Mesh --> Visible

From steps 4 to 7, the same steps are followed for 3 mm & 5 mm target lengths.

END RESULTS:

Target length 1 mm

Target length 3 mm

Target length 5 mm

CONCLUSION:

1. Target length of 1 mm is best as all components can mesh but process time and calculation for CFD will also increase.

2. For the given model, the target length for Spring and Column can be 1mm. The reason behind this is Spring diameter is 3.4 mm and the Target length of 3 & 5 mm will create blisters in the mesh. the solution may result in less accuracy.
