Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Surface meshing on a Pressure valve
Aim:To perform surface meshing on a Pressure valve.
Objectives:
1.To check for the geometrical errors
2.To perform Topology cleanup accordingly.
Cases:
- Target length = 1mm, 3 mm and 5 mm (i.e. 3 cases)
- Element type = Tria
Procedure:
1.Open the model in ansa.

2.Check the geometry.

3.Patching the surfaces to rectify single con
- Various patching option can be used (surface type)

4.After patching check the geometry again

5.To perform volumetric analysis model should be closed.

6.Assign various PIDs to the model

7.Deleting shell default PID

8.Meshing using perimeter length
- Perimeters
- macros

9.Meshing using spot mesh
Case1:
1mm target length
- perimeters:1 mm
- macro:1 mm
mesh parameters:
- target length 1 mm
- min length:0.5 mm
- max length:1 mm
mesh quality:
- min length:0.5 mm
- max length:1 mm
- Element type = Tria

Case2:
3mm target length
- perimeters:3 mm
- macro:3 mm
mesh parameters:
- target length 3 mm
- min length:1 mm
- max length:5 mm
mesh quality:
- min length:1 mm
- max length:5 mm
- Element type = Tria

Case3:
5mm target length
- perimeters:5 mm
- macro:5 mm
mesh parameters:
- target length 5 mm
- min length:3 mm
- max length:7 mm
mesh quality:
- min length:3 mm
- max length:7 mm
- Element type = Tria

Result:Out of the 3 cases target length 1 mm is showing best meshing. It retains the accurete geomtry of all the components but the trials are more.
Learning outcomes:
- Geomtry checkup
- creating surface
- creating and deleting PID
- Deleting and undeleting surface
- mesh set up with different target length
Conclusion:Different mesh target length for different components can be done to get more accurate result.
