Week 2 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine
Aim: Explore the SI Engine Model
Engine Layout :

Cases :
a. Running at 1800 RPM and noting down other parameters
The below table depicts the various performance parameters obtained at 1800 RPM.

Pressure vs CA plot

Engine Power and Torque

b. Increase Power by 10% at 3600 RPM
Initially, the engine is run at 3600 rpm to note the power obtained.

Engine performance parameters at 3600 RPM

Pressure vs CA

Engine Power and Torque at 3600 RPM

From the above table Power obtained at 3600 rpm is 16.7 kW. Now to increase the power various techniques can be applied.
1. Increase Compression Ratio
2. Increase stroke length
The below matrix represents different combinations of Stroke Length and Compression Ratios (CR)

Performance Matrix

In the above matrix, brake power is highlighted which is 10% increased power i.e. 18.4kW as compared to the baseline engine which was 16.7kW.
