Week 2 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine

Solution: Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine

Question:

1.Run the case at 1800 rpm and list down important parameters

  • air flow rate
  • BMEP
  • BSFC
  • In-cylinder pressure

2. Increase the power output at 3600 rpm by 10%

Answer:

A. SI engine Calibration basics:

Case Setup:

Results:

B. Increase the power output at 3600 rpm by 10%

Case Setup:

Results:

Conclusion: From the above result, the rpm vs power output is give (1800, 3600 bore, 3600 stroke).

We can observe that the power increases as the rmp increases. Also there is not much change in the 3600 bore and stroke case. It can be seen that the power output increment depends on the RPM and the displaced volume of the cylinder (Bore and stroke).
