Aim: To create a simulink model of a door bell using te solenoid block
Theory: The most important part of a door bell is its magnetic motor. The magnetic motor constitutes a conventional electromagnet. We know that an electromagnet is an arrangement in which a coil of wire is wrapped around magnetic material which produces magnetic field when electricity is passed through the coil. The greater the coiling of the wire, the higher the amplification of magnetic field. This magnetic field produces a substantial effect on any magnetic substance when brought in the vicinity of its magnetic field. This means that when an iron object is placed in this magnetic field, it will be attracted towards the magnetic field due to polar orientation generated by the electromagnetism.
Solenoid is the generic term for a coil of wire used as an electromagnet. It also refers to any device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy using a solenoid. The device creates a magnetic field from electric current and uses the magnetic field to create linear motion.
Procedure :
- All the simulink main blocks that are required for the working of the door bell are taken.
- An input is given to the pulse generator that is connected to the switch through a Simulink-PS converter as the pulse generator is a simulink block and switch is a physical entity.
- The respective terminals of Solenoid and the ideal translational motion sensor are connected .
- The Battery,Electrical switch and Solenoid makes a complete circuit.
- A solver configuration block is connected to the Electrical switch.
- The Mechanical translational and the Electrical References are taken.
- The P terminal, Where the output has to be observed is connected with the scope block using PS-Simulink converter.
- Stop time is given as 20 sec
- The initial position for the ideal translational motion sensor is set to 5.
