  • MAKING A SIMULINK MODEL OF DOORBELL USING SOLENOID BLOCK
  • EXPLANATION
  1. The pulse generator is used to create square wave pulses at regular intervals. The block waveform parameters amplitude, pulse width, period and phase delay , determine the shape of the output waveform.
  2. where amplitude = 1,period = 4sec , pulsewidth = 50 , phase delay = 2 sec.
  3. The switch block used is contrpplled by external physical signal,if the external physical signal is greater than the thresold parameter then the switch is closed, otherwise it is open.
  4. The positive terminal of the switch is connected to battery and negative terminal is connected to the electrical reference.
  5. The solenoid block is connected with switch and battery and we will get a complete electrical circuit. The port C is connected with mechanical reference.
  6. The ideal translational sensor is connected with solenoid block R to obseve the movement of the plunger.
  7. Scope is connected with ideal translational sensor to get the output.
  8. PS-Simulink converter is used to convert the signal physical to simulink.
  9. SOLVER CONFIGURATION:Each physical network represented by connected simscape blocks requires solver setting information for simulation.
  1. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan as per the below conditions:

    Temperature source: 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds

Fan conditions: ON if the temperature above 25 °C, OFF otherwise

For this challenge we required below blocks
  1. Signal builder : to generate the signal according to the condition given.
  2. PS-simulink converter: converts physical signal into simulink output signals.
  3. Controlled temperature source: provides a temperature physical output based on the condition given to port S.
  4. Thermal reference: Thernal reference block provides the intial condition to the thermal block for the solver.
  5. Battery: Battery is a storage device that provides the required voltage based on the parameter given.
  6. Resistor: which provides the opposing nature of curren in circuit.
  7. voltage sensor: This is used to measure the voltage or potential difference across any electrical component and it should be connected in parallel only.
  8. Thermistor: It shows the relationship between temperature and resistance.
  9. Electrical reference: This block will provide the required initial conditions to the connected thermal blockfor the solver.
  10. Solver configuration:The solver configuration block specifies the solver parameters that your model needs before you can begin simulation and this is mandatory for all simscape designs.
  11. Simulink-PS converter:converts simulink signals to physical signals.
  12. Constant:Provides a constant output value.
  13. Switch: This block is used to give the output value using if and else condition. In this block we will have three ports , where port 1 is the output value when port 2 is satisfied with the condition and threshold of the switch block if it is not satisfied port3 will be the output value.

In this signal builder is connected with thermistor using controlled temperature source and resistor connected parallelly to the voltage source.Using 25degree centigrade as a threshold value with switch block will gives the output value.

In this process simulink to ps converter gives one error as 'not enough input derivatives were provided for one or more Simulink-PS converter',This is due to the solver type requiring fewer solver dervatives to solve the model.

To solve this we need to select input handling>filtering and derivatives>filter input, derivatives.
