1. Simulink model of door bell using solenoid:

The door bell uses electromagnet called a solenoid. A solenoid consists of coiled wire surrounded by the metal piston. This piston consists conductive metal it can be moved forward and backward by the electromagnetic field.

Blocks Used

  • Pulse Generator is used to produce pulse which is ON for 2 seconds and OFF for 2 seconds.
  • Single pole single throw switch is used for turn ON and OFF which is controlled by the output waveform produced by the pulse generator.
  • Ideal Translational motion sensor senses the change in the output of the solenoid.
  • Blue lines indicate the electrical elements and Red colour lines indicate the mechanical elements.
  • simulink to physical systems conversion and vice versa is done by simulink to PS block and PS to simulink block.
  • seperate references are provided for both electrical and mechanical circuits.

Output Waveforms

a. Output of the pulse generator

b. Velocity of the plunger each time when it triggers

c. Position of the plunger at each time when it triggers.

2. Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn on or turn off the fan

Blocks Used are: Thermistor, battery source, resistor, switch , signal builder

Temperature source at a 20 °C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27 °C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23 °C from 30 to 50 seconds is produced from the signal builder. The output of the signal builder is connected to simulink to ps converter block than it given as ainput to the controlled temperature source.Electrical circuit is formed by battery source , resistor and the thermistor. The voltage across resistor is sensed through voltage sesnsor. The condition given is that output signal should be high when the temperature is above 25 degree celcius. This condition is achieved by switch block.

a. Output wave form of a Signal Builder

b. Output of the voltage sensor

c. Output obtained from the switch block
