Assembly Process of Butterfly Valve in NX CAD

All the part files are opened inside the assembly file. The files included are as follows:

The components are then aligned one by one. First the plate is aligned with the stem.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

To align the plate with the stem the center axis of one of the holes of the plate is aligned with the center axis of the one of the holes of the stem. and the same is repeated with another hole of the plate and stem respectively. And then the mating surface of the plate is brought close to the surface of the stem using touch command.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Two screws are then fixed by aligning the center axis of each screw and the center axis of each hole in plate and stem respectively. And then using the touch command, the matting surface of the screw and the matting surface of the plate are brought close.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Next the stem with the plate fixed in it are aligned with the body by aligning the center axis of the stem and the center axis of the body. Then the plate is aligned inside the body using the touch command.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

The retainer plate is aligned by aligning the center axis of the retainer plate and the center axis of the counterbore in the in the body. Then it is laid on the matting surface of the body using the touch command.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Three screws are then added using the same steps as we did with the stem plate and screws.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Then the lever is aligned by aligning the center axis of the large circular extrusion with the center axis of the stem and the edge of the slot on the lever and the edge of the slot on the stem are aligned using align command.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Finally, the Nut is assembled by aligning the center axis of the nut with center axis of the stem and the laid on the mating surface of the lever using the touch command.

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for  Butterfly Valve

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

A 60 mm circular datum target area are hatched are denoted as the A1, A2 and A3 which constitutes the Datum A. which a has flatness tolerance of 0.25 mm on the hatched areas.

There are three holes of the 47 mm in diameter and has size tolerance of ±0.1 mm.

One the hole in the datum target area A1 has a perpendicularity tolerance of 0.25 mm at maximum material condition relative to datum A. And this is taken as datum B.

The hole in the datum target area A2 has positional tolerance of 0.25 mm at maximum material condition relative to datum A and datum B at maximum material boundary. And this is taken as datum C.

And the other hole which is in the datum target area A3 has positional tolerance of 0.5 mm at maximum material condition relative to datum A, datum B at maximum material boundary and datum C at maximum material condition. And this is taken as datum D.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

A profile tolerance of 0.5 mm is given to the far side of the body from datum A relative to datum A, datum B at maximum material boundary and datum C at maximum material condition.

<!--[if gte vml 1]> <![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Holes on the farther side of the datum A are 47 mm in diameter with the size tolerance ±0.25 mm of and are controlled by the holes in the hatched surface A1, A2 and A3 respectively.

The hole on the farther side of the A1 has positional tolerance of 0.75 mm at maximum material condition relative to datum B at maximum material boundary condition.

The hole on the farther side of the A2 has positional tolerance of 0.75 mm at maximum material condition relative to datum C at maximum material boundary condition.

The hole on the farther side of the A3 has positional tolerance of 0.75 mm at maximum material condition relative to datum D at maximum material boundary condition.
