Week 14 challenge
After modeling all parts, it is necessary to assemble the part with constraints. The assembly was first created by placing the body in the positions and mating other parts with it. At first shaft and disk are joined together with a screw to form a subassembly and joined with the body. A retainer is mated with the body by the screws. After that, the lever is mated to the shaft positions and then fixed with the nuts.
Feature used for assembly as follows
- Touch
- Align
- Move component
- Inter/axis center
Methodology
At first, the assembly files are opened in the NX cad and each part file is added to the NX cad assembly. The part in the assembly was mated with each other by the move part command and assembly constrained command and the assembled files are shown in Figure

GD&T METHODOLOGY
- The ear of the butterfly was marked with target datum of A1, A2, A3
- A2 and A3 targets are given with perpendicularity tolerance and position tolerance respectively.
- The third ear was marked with the datum D
- Other tolerances are given to the surface and features of the butterfly valve.
