Week 12:Project-1-Meshing of Door Inner Panel Challenge

Objective:

 To create 2d mesh model of side door panel under specific element quality criteria.

Procedure:

1.Import the side door model in HM.

2.creating the criteria file with the mentioned element criteria.

• As a part is large geometry cleanup was done by splitting the part into four.

• After splitting the surfaces, the mid surface was extracted using offset command. Manual mid-surfacing was preferred as the part was having varying thickness at sections.

• After extracting the mid-surfaces for each section. Geometry cleanup was performed manually.
• The surfaces were cleaned and optimized for T connections. For satisfying element min. sizes and to collect feature lines perfectly.

• The surfaces were extended for Ribs and T connections were made. By using quick edit tool and surface edit it was achieved.

• After this each surface was meshed by element size 4mm. while performing meshing on the surfaces the visualization mode was changed to element quality check. It made simple for correction of failed elements and to increase accuracy in mesh generation.

• While correcting mesh it was taken care for capturing feature lines properly to improve post processing accuracy.
• The holes and fillets were achieved properly.

• Simultaneously, the free edges and open nodes were checked and corrected properly.

• While performing this task I mainly focused on capturing the features properly in mesh. Tried to eliminate maximum Tria element without compromising with the feature lines.
• After achieving the complete mesh on surfaces, it was checked for open edges. All the open edges were cleared and the mesh was checked for normal.
• After gaining the proper mesh with the mentioned quality criteria “O” elements were failed.

After this property card was individually for each changed section.

FINAL IMAGE MODEL:

The model is meshed according to the given quality criteria and assigned the thickness.
