Week 12- Final project

Part Body Creation: ( Armrest, Lower substrate, Map pocket, Bottle Holder)

  • With the help of the given class A and the master section as a reference for thickness dimension, create B surface by offset in the appropriate direction.
  • After Class B is formed, Class C is to be generated using the Class A surface, Trim all the extrapolated surfaces of Class A, B, and C surfaces, and we get the final trim of the required component.
  • Compare it with the master section to ensure the required dimensional spec is achieved.
  • By inserting a body, using the close surface command in the Part body workbench, a closed surface body is formed

DRAFT ANALYSIS CLASS A:

  • Choose custom view Parameters and opt for the material option.
  • Then choose the feature draft analysis option.
  • Pick and place the compass on the tooling axis and then lock the position.
  • Click on the component and adjust the values to attain the required draft condition for Class A.

MAIN TOOLING AXIS:

THE TOOLING AXIS is created in the direction of tool travel direction where the core meets the cavity as the area of the Given A surface clears and more visible can be seen in the tool direction, so along the Y direction, the tooling axis was created.

MAIN TOLL AXIS DIRECTION FOR COMPONENTS:

  • ARMREST- Z-AXIS
  • LOWER SUBSTRATE- Y-AXIS
  • MAP POCKET - Y-AXIS
  • BOTTLE HOLDER- Y-AXIS

SIDE CORE DRAFT ANALYSIS FOR DOG HOUSE:

  • Choose custom view Parameters and opt for the material option.
  • Choose the feature draft analysis option.
  • Pick and place the compass on the tooling axis and then lock the position.
  • Click on the component and adjust the values to attain the required draft condition for the component.

HS AND 4-WAY LOCATOR:

  • Using the Given Master section for each component ( Lower substrate), following the path of MS, create sketches and 3D features to the required dimensional spec of the master section, draft them in the tool direction, ensuring the material is cut at the required angles.
  • After the actual HS and 4-way locator, using Parallel curves, create multiple points for a specified distance ( say 50mm between each feature) and translate the number of required HS and 4-way locators.
  • Using union trim join the HS and 4-way locators to the component part body.

Flanges:

  • Using MS as a reference, by extracting the C surface curves for a guide path to flanges, using the given MS sketches generate the Flanges appropriately ensuring the counterbore holes pass through for HS and 4-way locator for the staking process.
  • After the flanges are created to the required spec of MS, drafting, and split method in the part body workbench, join them to the component body using Add or union trim method of boolean as required.

Push pin assy to Dog house:

  • In the Assembly workbench, the Pushpin is inserted into the Door trim panel Product,
  • Using the manipulation command the push pin is adjusted and placed in the correct direction to assemble it with doghouse counterbore holes for assembling the component to the metal body.
  • Using coincident and Offset constraints the pushpin feature or object is attached to the Dog house engineering feature as shown in CAD

Publications:

Class A, Class B, Class C, Main tooling axis, and side core tooling axis are Publicized for easy reference.
