                                                                AIM

To Create a BOM and Hardware list (BPO) for the complete Fixture assembly.

                                               BILL OF MATERIALS

* Bill of Materials contains all the information required for the assembly of printed circuit boards.

* It is one of the most important things required while manufacturing PCBs. 

* Failure in providing bill of materials can lead to lot of confusion to the manufacturer and also to the designers.

* This can result in problems at the time of assembly and unnecessary revisions of the design which can cause delays.

* To avoid these kind of problems and confusions, It is always recommended to provide a proper BOM.

* A BOM is sometimes also referred to as a product structure, assembly component list or production list or in process manufacturing industries.

* For example, a bicycle manufacturer that wants to build 500 Cars , A bill of materials for a bicycle will include all the parts that make up the bicycle such as door, seats, frames,etc. inluding the required quantities of each component and their cost.

                                 THINGS THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN BOM

* It's important to include quantities, part numbers (to an intelligent or non-intelligent numbering scheme), description, part names, the BOM level, how it will be procured, additional relevant notes and more.

The following information can be included in the Bill of Materials.

                                                NAME OF MANUFACTURER

* It is good to mention the name of the manufacturer, whose parts and components and prefer to use in the assembly, the names of alternative manufacturers also should be included.

* This helps to save a lot of time if components from the primary manufacturers are unnattainable.

                                             MANUFACTUER'S PART NUMBER

* A Components distributor provides a unique identification number for every part.

*Providing these exact part numbers to the manufacturer helps in attaining the exact parts as required.

                                                              PARTS DESCRIPTION

* The description of the parts are to be listed as per the part number.

* This will help the manufacturer to understand the exact application requirement and identify the right component for PCB design and manufacturing.

                                                    VALUES OF THE COMPONENTS

 When you provide the values of the component to be used in the assembly such as resistance and capacitance, it will help the person providing you the assembly service in getting the components with the right, required valves.

                                                               PRODUCT QUANTITY

* Product quantity have to be mentioned and it results in exact quanities of the requirments of the part which helps to ensure that the parts are manufactured in exact required quantities.

* Thus it is very important to give the list of products with exact quantity.

                                                                REFF.  DESIGNER

* The reference designer is the information required to understand the exact placement of components on the printed circuit board.

                                                         PLACEMENT METHOD

* The placement method is the technique used to assemble the parts and components on a PCB.

* It can be through-hole method, or surface mount technology(SMT).

*This informatuon will help the manufacturer to go ahead with the selected method.
