Challenge

Week 11 - Final project

REPORT:-

1. OBJECTIVE:- Development of a Door Trim panel. Creating a CAD Model considering inputs like in OEM and Tier1 companies.

2. What is meant by:-

  • CLASS A Surface:- Class A Surface is the outer surface of an automobile that we can touch. Class A surfaces can be defined as any surface, that has styling intent, that is either seen or touched.
  • Tooling Axis:- It is the direction for the movement of the mold. Tooling Axis gives the ejection direction.
  • Draft: Draft is required on all parts in the direction of mold movement to allow parts to properly release or eject from the mold. The draft is the angle at which the part is tapered to allow it to release. As the part cools, it tends to want to shrink to the core side of the mold. Adding a draft helps the part to release.
  • Draft Analysis:- The Draft Analysis tool identifies the zones (using color codes) and highlights the areas which deviate from the specified values along a defined draft direction.
  • Master Section:- Master sections are the guides for design requirements that decide the component packaging after technical surfaces.
  • Parting Lines:- Parting line in the mold divides the core and the cavity of a molded part. It is sometimes a starting point for the mold parting surface.

3. Procedure:- Follow the class A surface and create a Class B surface of all the parts. The create class C surface from A. Join the Class A and Class C surface. Then join or trim it with the class B surface. Create a closed surface of it. Then for attachment and engineering features follow the master section and the design guidelines.

4. Conclusion:- Door Trim Panel is developed. The Engineering features are designed using designed guidelines in the industry.

Below is the ppt with the required images of the part.
