Week 11 - Final project
WEEK 11 - FINAL PROJECT
AIM:
- To create an assembly of solid bodies using the given Class A Input.
- To create B side attachment features based on the given mastersection.
- To create tooling direction and parting lines for all parts and ensure tooling feasibility.
GIVEN INPUT:
The Given Input is the Class A Surface and master sections

SEPARATION OF ASSEMBLIES:
The first step is to create an assembly. Class A surface of different parts should be separated into individual part files and then added into an assembly. The mastersections also need to be present in a separate part file.

Now each part need to be worked to make it a solid.
All the parts need to be made solid by creating B and C surface. Tooling axis should be created and tooling fesibility should be ensured.

ASSEMBLY:

B-SIDE FEATURES:
4 Way Locator:
These are engineering features used to locate the part during assembly. These features need a hole in the mating part with a clearance of 0.1mm
These 4 way locators need to follow plastic part design rules such as draft, fillets and wall thickness.
Heat Staking:
Heat staking is a process of fixing plastic parts by deforming a previously molded heat staking boss around a hole in the mating part.

The Heat staking boss should obey all the plastic part design rules such as maintaining 50 to 60 percent of the part wall thickness and a draft of 0.5 degrees. The mating part need to be present at a height of less than 7mm to 8mm from the base and the heat staking boss should protrude about 12mm above the mating part.
These bosses need to be supported by ribs at the base for strength.

All the bosses and Ribs need to have draft in the tooling direction. Fillets need to be provided as required.
Dog House:
Dog houses are engineering features used to support other features such as locators, snaps, bosses or clips. Dog House feature also needs to follow all plastic design rules.
The base of the dog house need to have reduced wall thickness to prevent sink marks.
These dog house features support the clip feature.
