Week 11 Car Crash simulation
AIM:
To perform the parametric study for 3 different values of thickness for the car body
OBJECTIVE:
The video is provided for the car crash simulation for boundary condition and simulation setup, need to perform the parametric study using three different values of thickness for the car body in the explicit Analysis.
PROCEDURE:
. Select Explicit Dynamics, drag and drop into Project Schematic.
. Stainless Steel NL is chosen under Engineering Data.
. Under geometry tab, import the given geometry, double-click to open Space Claim to register the model.
. Under geometry tab, the Car Body was given to be made of Stainless Steel NL with thickness of the mesh as a parameter.
. Symmetry was given to the wall face as well as the edge of the car body.
. Body Interactions were set to frictionless.
. Mesh size was set to default and meshed.Tetrahedrons method was applied for the Wall and the back faces of car body was provided with the sizing of 150mm so as to reduce the mesh time and solver time.
. Under explicit dynamics tab, we set the analysis to 1 step with end time 1e-3s.
. Displacement of 500mm is given to the wall in the direction of Car .
. The parts of the care body which may not be harmed in the crash are fixed.
. Total deformation, Equivalent Stress and plots are requested from the solver as outputs.
. Run the simulation by clicking on SOLVE.
. The parametrized thickness of car body mesh is changed to evaluate results for various cases:
i.e 0.3mm,0.4mm and 0.5mm
