Challenge

Week 10 - Challenge 2- Attachment Feature Creation (Dog House)

Introduction: We are designing a Door Handle using given class A surface. The approach includes creation of Class B surface keeping 2.5 mm of thickness in mind for the complete component. The design also included Class C creation from the given parent surface.

Tree Structure

CLASS A:

Following surface is given as the input for the component creation. To design the part model we have to find out the tooling axis for the surface and check the drafts Analysis.

Draft Analysis of Class A Surface :

The analysis is done with 1.5 degree draft angle. As we can seen all the surfaces in green colour are 1.5 degree or more than 1.5 degree.

Tooling Axis:

  • I was taken a point on surface of class A and draw a line through the point in Y direction.

Creation of Class B Surface:

  • Now for Class B surface creation, I have offseted surface from Class A and repair them to obtain the original parent surface.
  • Offseted to the required thickness (That is 2.5mm).
  • After offsetting, all the surfaces we trimmed into the required shape.
  • After that required fillets are given to the surfaces.

Creation of Class C Surface:

  • For creating Class C surface we have extracted the boundry from Class A.
  • Now this boundry is sweep along the draft direction with a 3deg draft.

Trimed or Join

Class A and Class C:

We make sure that there is not any open boundry between class A and class C, we have to join them to created the single body.

Creation of Dog House

  • First I was extracted a surface from final part, after that ceated a sketch.
  • Than use sweep command to with height of 22mm in tooling direction.
  • After that I was given fillets on edgeg
  • Than I added dog house with final body with help of unitrim.

Draft Analysis of the Final Component:

For this analysis, tooling axis is taken as draft reference.
