Challenge

Week 10 - Challenge 2- Attachment Feature Creation (Dog House)

DOG HOUSE CREATION:

AIM:

  • To Create dog house for door handle from given class A surface.
  • Create solid body from final trim, and create dog house as per industrial standard dimension.

GIVEN INPUT:

CREATION OF TOOLING AXIS:

  • First we need to create tooling axis, for that we need to create axis on center of the gravity of the part, then using line command click that point and z axis.
  • Then using draft analysis and we finalyze the tooling axis.

DRAFT ANALYSIS OF CLASS A SURFACE:

  • In draft analysis we need to give 3 deg with repect to the tooling axis.
  • By color segments we are easily find out our tooling axis.

CREATION OF CLASS B SURFACE:

  • For creating B surface we need to offset the Class A surface about 2.5mm as per given data.
  • After offseting we got improper non conecting surface by bounadary, multiple extract, extrapolate and trim we create our class B surface.

CREATION OF C SURFACE:

For creation of C surface we use sweep command with respect to the tooling axis.

CREATION CLASS A & C SURFACE:

By using extrapolate, join and trimming we are create the class A&C join.

FINAL TRIM:

We need to trim Class A&C join and class B surface, For that we need to extrapolate the B surface and do the self intersection analysis.

CLOSED SURFACE:

By change the surface design to part design and create solid body using closed surface.

DOG HOUSE CREATION:

  • First we need to decide the position of the dog house.
  • Then we need to sketch the dog house overall dimension like length, width, angle and x,y coordinates.

Sketches:

  • Create a sketch with ISO constrain to create the dog house.

Extrude surface:

THICKENING OF SURFACE:

SPLIT:

FEATURE TREE :

DRAFT ANALYSIS AFTER CLOSED SURFACE:

CONCLUSION:

From this challenge we are learned how to create Dog house attachment in plastic part and creation of closed surface from class A surface as per industrial standards.
