Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge

Report Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge

Aim: Simulate a bullet penetrating into a bucket. Use 3 different non linear materials for the bucket and analyse their behaviour for the same velocity of bullet. Apply the conditions for bullet as mentioned in the video itself. Attach an animation to show the behaviour in the three cases.

Procudure:

Material: use 3 non linear material for bucket: Al NL, Copper NL and Stainless Steel NL. For bullet, use rigid Tantalum

Import geometry:

Mesh:

Edge sizing 6mm on bucket

Analysis setting:

Fixed support:

Velocity:

Conclusion:

case Total Deformation Max Equivalent Stress
1 1390 880.95
2 1390 2011.1
3 1390 1740.9

From the above result we can see the highest equivalent stress is experienced in Copper Alloy NL, and lowest equivalent stress is in Aluminum Alloy NL, the moderate equivalent stress in Stainless Steel NL. The total deformation are alomost the same.
